Family Clinic
The family clinic is designed to help parents who feel overwhelmed, challenged and/or out of their depth as a result of the emotional/behavioural problems of their children. Many of these children have experienced one or more early life traumas that have often involved significant separation and loss e.g. early hospitilisations, bereavement, adoption, frequent moves and placements, abuse and/or neglect.
We offer support for parents who are experiencing difficulties in communication and parenting to come along in order to seek help, guidance and support for ways of working more effectively with their children. We also offer effective therapy to help children overcome the effects of early traumatic imprinting and to develop healthier and more loving attachments to their parents.
In certain circumstances, children may be referred for supplementary therapeutic work if considered appropriate.
The treatment process is divided into three distinct phases:
Phase One
Initial sessions are conducted with the parents in order to explore the particular challenges that involved in parenting their children. Specific therapeutic parenting strategies are introduced in order to assist and empower parents to establish a safe space in which their child can begin the process of healing.
Cost per session: £95
Duration of session: 1 to 1 1/2 hours with two therapists
Phase Two
Involves therapeutic work with the children and parents in order to help them improve levels of communication within the family, increase levels of self-esteem, reduce dysfunctional behaviour and resolve the effects of early trauma.
Cost per session: £95
Duration of session: 1 to 1 1/2 hours with two therapists
Phase Three
Support is available for families in the form of telephone supervision and/or online video-conferencing via the Skype network.
Costs: Free telephone support for the duration of the therapeutic programme Skype sessions charged at the rate of £50 per hour.
