For the Treatment of Babies & Children

Babies and children tend to respond well to Craniosacral therapy treatment, generally requiring fewer sessions than most adults.

The treatment process is gentle, non-invasive and completely respectful of the physical and emotional needs of the individual baby/child.

Babies & Young Children

“Civilisation will start on the day when the wellbeing of the newborn baby will prevail over any other consideration” Wilhelm Reich

The actual treatment process used will depend on the age and the specific needs of each individual baby.  Younger babies can be treated in their mothers arms or lying on a pillow. Older babies and toddlers tend not to want to keep still very often, and so they are most often worked with on the floor whilst engaging them in some form of therapeutic play.

Some babies, especially those who may have experienced stress during pregnancy, a difficult or even traumatic birth or some form of separation from parents after birth may need a combination of approaches in order to best help and support them.

Many of these other approaches are drawn from Prenatal and Birth Therapy, a system designed to assess and facilitate the complete resolution of any stress or shock that has become imprinted into their bodies as a result of difficult early life experiences.

Older Children

Children respond well to treatment, enjoying the process and often requiring fewer sessions than most adults.

An important part of the treatment process is that children are not just treated with a one-size fits all approach.  The treatment needs to be adapted to the specific needs of the child.

As a result, some children will find relief from craniosacral therapy sessions, whilst others will need an approach that incorporates other approaches and is designed to meet their specific needs, their history and their age.

This is especially true for those children who have more complex emotional and behavioural problems stemming from one or more early life traumas e.g. birth trauma, bonding and attachment deficits, early hospitilisations, bereavement and adoption.

Many parents also find that they need help and support in dealing with the challenges that parenting a traumatised child brings.
